Travelogue Part VIII: Day 17 - Day 19 (Nice)

Flew from Rome to Nice in the evening of Day 17, while we were approaching Nice, we were greeted by a really beautiful sunset moment and the whole city looked so gorgeous by the sea!!!! SO STOKED.

Here's the view from the plane window - couldn't capture its real beauty :( But witnessing it myself, felt like *woah* Nice has one of the most beautiful airport I've ever seen. It is literally by the sea. When we plane landed we could see that the sea was conjoining the land of the airport, such harmony. Gosh. I believe the Nice has one of the calmest coastline. The waves are forever so calm and gentle (can't get over how beautiful this place is) And so obviously, Nice is my favourite city of the entire trip :') I had the most relaxing 3 days spent here, just like how a holiday should be.

Welcome to Nice, France! :D

Our host picked us up at the airport with his coolio car *opens car roof*

I was in amazement throughout the entire stretch from the airport to our apartment. HOW CAN A CITY BE THIS PEACEFUL AND GORGEOUS. (my attempt to snap a picture of the peach skies on a moving car = blur) He drove along promenade des anglais and I swear this must be the most beautiful promenade ever. HOW COME SINGAPORE DON'T HAVE :(

In any case, we settled down at our apartment YAY! And the hosts left us a bottle of rose wine

And we just stayed in for the night, washed dirty laundry, relaxed and had fun :D

The next day we went out to get some croissants et pain au chocolat! Also got orange juice and cheese from a nearby grocery store. It was pretty sad because the big supermarket wasn't open (it was a Sunday - sob sob) and we eventually figured out that almost NOTHING opens on a Sunday from Afternoon onwards.

We stayed super near musee des beaux arts!

Headed out to Promenade des Anglais, was so so excited:D

And the view was indeed, breathtaking :0

Walked along la promenade des anglais until we reached the old town (vieux ville) and there was a vibrant Sunday (morning) market! :)

Flower market at Cours Saleya! :D

We intended to buy some produce back from the vibrant market to cook a meal for dinner that night, but decided to have our lunch first before we buy those groceries. So we found a place for lunch, and the food served was thumbs upppp.

Had such a satisfying meal!

But when we exited the restaurant, we regretted. The market outside was closed D: CRIES, most of the stalls have already packed and left the market. The vibrancy dwindled as everyone heads home on a Sunday Afternoon :O We hurriedly bought some tomatoes from one of the remainning stalls.. :/

Left old town and walked towards their main shopping area to find that...most of the malls were already closed. Never did we expect a Sunday afternoon to signify rest for the whole city!! Won't ever happen in Singapore. Felt so disappointed because we haven't gotten ingredients for our dinner...in the end we made do with some pasta and tomato pasta sauce we got from a grocery store

Went back to our apartment and started to cook our simple tomato pasta!

Tadahhhh, it was simple and plain, but still nice :)

After dinner, we walked to the beach to catch some sun set! (sets at 9 plus pm)

^^

Love the pebbly beach! :D

You'll feel extremely at peace when you're at Nice :)

Next day morning! We went out to the supermarket hehehee finally opened, and we bought lots of food back (maybe too much, will see what we bought later on). For breakfast, we bought the yummiest croissants yet again, and toasted some fish sticks + cooked some scrambled eggs yum yum!

Also had this super cheap and good yoghurt!! And banana~ :D Such happy breakfast!

Even after a hearty breakfast, we were craving for some food not long after we went out for a walk,

Went to Granny's Creperie for some crepes!!

Tried both the savory and the sweet one!

After that, we went up the castle hill - where you can see a panoramic view of Nice!!! Climb stairs climb

^^ beautiful coastline!

Hahahaha, I made R do this - artistic shot :p

There's a waterfall up the hill!

Sitting down on the bench and enjoying the scenic view teehee

Remmenants of the Castle

From the other side of the hill, we can see Monaco City! Big cruise liners

My coolest boyfee *goggle on*

Then we left the castle hill! Walked back to our apartment.

Was attracted by a bakery that had macaroons in the glass display and made R get some for me. Boyyyy, best decision made: these macaroons are the BEST we've ever tasted (beating big names like laduree) SUPER GOOD.

Hehe. When we reached home, we started to cook our dindinz, and here's all the things we've shopped for in the morning at the supermarket. Cooking ALL of them. In fact, we left the fish sticks in the microwave after we heated them up and completely forgotten about them because we already had so much food for two person

Here's the main course: tomato pasta with fresh tomatoes, chicken ham, and hard boiled eggs!!

Also cooked pork chops marinated with our secret recipe - rose wine! Hey these pork chops actually tastes good :D

And we have some mushroom with tuna + diced mushroom bits for starters. HAHA

SO SO BLOATED AFTER ALL THESE FOOD.

Finished off the meal with fruit platter - kiwi, banana, watermelon.

Our stomach was so close to explosion, finishing all those food......
But well, it was an appropriate ending to our relaxing stay at Nice, doing whatever we liked - taking naps in the day, cooking food to eat, overeating, sitting by the beach, listening to the waves ~.~

Loved Nice with all my heart :)
