Travelogue Part IV: Day 08 - 10 (Berlin)

It's Day 08 morning and to the airport we go! Flew with airberlin from Cologne to Berlin and arrived in about an hour. After that we took train to our hostel! Berlin is pretty well connected so the metro service was very useful for us when travelling about Berlin!

Checked into our hostel! This is, my favorite accommodation for the entire Europe trip *proud of self* *beams* The room was huge, clean, and super lovely I can just stay there for the whole month. and rates were reasonable, comes with free breakfast too, simply too awesome :D

Cats PJs! :*)

After checking in, the hungry us decided to head out for some noms. Jokes about sausages are the WURST. hahaha these are fab! Except that my mom has to scare me and keep telling me that they use horse meat sometimes mm..

And then to Cafe Hudson's right behind our hostel! Heard that they were good :)

Especially loved the carrot cake!

Brownie points

And check out this purple rose that R folded me. *so romantic* *melts* HAHA

After filling our tummy with some food, time to travel out of our comfort (hostel) zone!

On our way to exploring Berlin :) Germany is characterized by graffiti artwork everywhere and anywhere, and I must say they have many artistically inclined talents around!

East Side Gallery! Historical/Cultural elements all on these stretch of walls

And we get some pictures when a kind passerby offered to save us from our failed selcas :b

And destination of our dinner that day - Piazza Rossa restaurant! :D

Trying out their Special Berlin beer - there's either Green or Red. Here's the Green (the much nicer one), we ordered one glass to share! and because the green tasted great, we decided to try the red at the later part of our meal HAHA, hm.

Seafood mariana pasta ME LOVES :D hehe

and our hawaiian pizza! Both dishes were delicious, but the portion is simply too big every time it comes to pizza. *surrenders*

And yes, the red Berlin beer which tasted like medicine to me. ahhh, see, green never goes wrong!

After dinner we decided to head back to our lovely hostel!

We went back quite early that night not only to enjoy chilling in our lovely room, but also and more importantly to wash our dirty laundry from the first week of our trip. :P oops

Spent quite a while washing lots of clothes and yay the room was so spacious we could hang our clothes across the room (^-^)Y seriously love our room :)

BRUSH TEETH TOGETHER HEE :B

The next morning we had breakfast at our hostel! Then we headed to the supermarket nearby to grab drinks and some apples, an apple a day keeps the doctor away. :) After that, time to set off again!

R, my map and compass the entire trip *blows kisses*

Visited a few museums (but did not enter), merely marvelled at their architectural details and snapped some obligatory tourist shots! hehe

The alte national gallery behind, R loved those pillars and columns!

With the Berlin Cathedral as background

For lunch, we visited Rittersport shop! YAY chocolates! :)

Had a chocolate molten cake with berry compote there, and also a smoked salmon wrap! It's a pity the lava didn't flow out as I had wished it did because I think Rittersport chocs are much more denser and viscous.

The wrap appealed to my tastebuds!

And ended off the meal with a happy sundae :)

Walked over to Brandenburg gate after lunch!

R had to take a million shots for me because I was so hard to please hahaha! :b

We're quite good with selfies :)

Reichstag! And what I really love Berlin for, their clear blue skies. Looking at those skies just make me happy already :) instant mood lifter!

And we went up the Reichstag because R pre-registered for us yay!

Inside!

And cos the sun was so awesome we just camwhored a lot more

Sitting on the grasses in front of Reichstag, I look so ~contemplative~

My sunshine boy Mr Roy :D

And some retarded faces of us!

After Reichstag visit we headed to a nearby park,

And R found a pine nut in the park, he was so hungry he actually ate it! *gasps*

Camera battery failed on me when we've arrived at the memorial hall :( thankfully iphone camera saved me HEHE

Visited Checkpoint Charlie next, and I felt like it was mehhh. HAHA

And all these while in Berlin, R has been searching for 'Curry 36', apparently very famous and sells good wursts! We didn't manage to find any and at that point it was mid-day and we have walked and visited so many places (seen above) that he was almost giving up on finding it :( and TADAH guess what, we saw a mobile booth with Curry 36 sign on top. WAH SO HAPPY ALREADY. and what made us even happier was that, they were giving out free currywurst as long as you fill in a form to participate in a lucky dip. WHAT, GOT SO LUCKY OR NOT.

So yes, each of us gets a plate of free currywursts YAY. And then we happily walk back to rittersport (again) to buy some chocolates back this time round!

On the train back with our chocolates. I look so obviously exhausted. HAHA, and because we were so tired we didn't manage to find a proper place for dinner.

Ended up entering a super random turkish restaurant nearby our hostel (just couldn't find something we wanted to eat) and so we settled our dinner at this dubious place

Um, we don't understand the menu *cold sweats*

Ended up ordering this chicken yoghurt naan bread thingy that turned out quite nice lah HAHA but yes was so glad to just finish up this meal and back to our hostel for a good rest!

Headed to the supermarket again and we bought ourselves some ice cream eclairs for dessert, it was cheap and yummy!! also check out our stack of Rittersport chocolates heh heh.

That night I also decided to be a hairdresser and trimmed R's hair because it was getting way too long and it was too costly to cut one's hair in Europe. HAHA the result, I shall not comment. But I'm sure it was a good experience, for both of us :D

The next day! We joined a concentration camp tour, woke up early morning to assemble at Brandenburg gate area! and off we go to Sachsenhausen concentration camp.

Did not know that the concentration camp weather condition was so drastically different from warm Berlin. It was freezing cold with strong winds and we didn't even prepare enough jackets to bring along. D': It was a terrible day for me.

After the tour, we headed back to Berlin and boy it was still freezing cold in Berlin that day. Weather in Europe is just so unpredictable. We were starving and feeling so cold so we hurried to a restaurant to satisfy our empty stomach

And from being so hopeful to sorely disappointed,

None of the dishes we had that day appealed to us even though we were so hungry!

This boiled pork knuckle... brb while I go vomit. In any case we finished it because we were seriously hungry. The potatoes were at least comforting though,

And then, we went back to Rittersport to get more chocolates for family and personal consumption. Cheered us up by a lot. haha!

And that's it, last day at Berlin, last day at Cats :'( and an extremely early flight to Venice the next day!
